Birthday season

It’s my first Saturday off from the market this month. Only two months left. They tend to be the slowest two months for me, so I’m staring down decisions attending vs. working on my site/online store.

I love being there and chatting with my neighbors. However, it was nice to sleep in (until 6) this morning. My beau is doing his thing, and I’m tending to things that I need to do.

While my evenings have passed by in a blur, I am pleased with these two projects that I finished. The jellyfish pendant is for a friend’s birthday. The blue piece was a commission for one of my sister-in-law’s friends. I’m kind of mad at myself for taking so long to make the kind of chains I made for them. But, better late than never.

Now I can get on with things I want to make. Not only are beading projects in the agenda, but so is playing with watercolor paints, fleshing out my plan of attack for making sure I make regular posts and so much more. Thank goodness it’s a cool, windy, rainy day –perfect for staying in and getting stuff done.

Another photo day

How is it that I’m in my second week back at work? And, the once clean desk has developed another case of the creeping craft supplies.

I didn’t make as much as I’d hoped during my time off. I think I’ll blame it on the bee or wasp sting I got on my foot. While I’m not dangerously allergic, my foot was swollen enough to leave me hobbling around. Oh well…

Why I don’t have much proof of the clean, I do have some proof of the busy.

I particularly had fun making the journals and think I might like making them more than I like filling them. And, the record album journals have given me a new reason to make regular visits to the nearby Goodwill.

Onward and upward in the continued hope that I will be better about making regular posts.

Market dust and other messes

Today starts my official first day of vacation. I did stay up late organizing and cleaning all of my market items and storage containers. It’s been so dry and dusty that the dust has coated everything.

This isn’t a great photo, but here’s some proof of it.

Trust me, the case looks brighter, and I had to really scrub to get it out of the nooks and crannies.

Today, while I hope to make some fun things, I also hope to tackle this

 and

yeah, I’m kind of horrified myself!!

Maybe that’s why I woke up before 6 a.m. on my first day of vacation. (Or was it the work nighymare that was influenced by binge watching “Bones”?) Now, to get myself out of bed and up and tackling these messes!

Once they’re done it’s on to beads and clay and paint and so much more!! It’s going to be a good week!

Because … That’s why

Why is making posts so difficult? I wish I knew.

Things that have kept me busy this week:

* Seeing/hearing Brené Brien speak and walking away with a very full brain.

* finishing some papier mâché books and a rake to accompany a doll that will be gifted to a friend tomorrow.

* sleep. I slept 10 hours one night this week. My beau/unicorn encouraged me to give into slumber early midweek, and that’s what I did. It felt amazing.

* a daisy chain bracelet for a friend. Of course I didn’t photograph it, but she said it fits just fine and the colors are perfect.

* flat spiral stitch bracelets. I’ve started a third, have only photographed two. The Unicirn said its the prettiest centipede he’s ever seen. Mom has one to “test drive”. She’s still busy and active as a flight attendant, so she’s the best spokesmodel around.

* an embroidered birthday gift. I’ve owed a friend this “portrait” of her dog for ages. I enjoyed working on it, and would like to do more embroidery soon. In fact, I’d like to do some small-scale embroidery, cut out the fabric and then submerge it in resin in a bezel.

Ok, that’s enough for now.

I’ve got a week off soon and am hoping to get a lot accomplished, which should inspire some photos and posts.

A little love for Loveworn

Today I want to give a shout out to  BJ of Loveworn. My mom saw BJ’s work nearly two years ago just outside of Muncie. While she does a lot of different things with t-shirts, I love the skirts! And, as a girl whose t-shirt drawers are always overflowing, I was happy to find a new life for my shirts.

I’ve been wearing these skirts all summer, they’re perfect for the ridiculously hot weather we’ve been having. And, when the weather turns, they’ll be super cute with tights.

I’ve got another stack of shirts ready to be turned into a skirt. Soon, I think.

So, if you, too, have a pile of t-shirts you don’t wear, I can’t say enough nice things about Loveworn.

For funsies, these are my t-skirts.
