Thursday is book talk day

I’m as done with Daring Adventures in Paint as I’m gonna be. I didn’t do the putting it all together exercise, but I will. I did tackle the “telling your story” exercise, but I cheated. I reproduced one of my favorite images of my maternal grandmother. It is what it is.

In the meantime, I’ve started perusing Brave Intuitive Painting by Flora Bowley. There are some woo-woo elements that aren’t me, but I like her encouragement regrading mark making. I even did as she instructs: paint some fast in colors you don’t normally use and write “perfect” at the top. Ta da!

Lastly, I’ve also been looking throughDrawing and Painting Beautiful Faces by Jane Davenport. I’ve Ben drawing faces like crazy, and earlier this week I drew one I actually liked. So, her technique has helped me a lot.

I think that next week I’ll give a jewelry book a try.
I’m loving this process. It’s often a lot of work, but that’s OK. I’m learning and stretching myself, both of which are good things.
